The style changes with the type of establishment

A restaurant logo is not a generic logo with a fork added to it. Every kind of kitchen has its own codes, and that is what the pipeline takes into account when you pick the Restaurant sector.

Fine dining
Light serif, symmetrical composition, black and gold or deep burgundy. The icon stays discreet, often a monogram: prestige is carried by restraint.
Bistro and brasserie
Classic serif, frame or crest, cream and burgundy. The logo has to hold on a painted storefront as well as on a chalkboard.
Burger and fast food
Heavy sans-serif, strong outline, red and yellow. The shape must stay legible on a delivery thumbnail under 100 pixels.
Pizzeria and Italian
Terracotta, deep green, cream, rather than the tricolor flag that has become a cliché. A signature ingredient beats a slice of pizza.
Café and coffee shop
Light sans-serif or script, brown, beige and muted green. A circular monogram: it is the shape that survives best stamped on a cup.
Bakery and pastry
Script or rounded slab serif, gold and ivory. A wheat ear, an initial, a pattern, never all three at once.
Asian cuisine
Brush stroke, red and black, carefully shaped counters. Watch the legibility of the stroke once reduced below 3 centimeters.
Food truck and street food
Condensed sans-serif, saturated colors, compact shape. The logo is read in motion, often from a distance and at an angle.

The seven places your logo will have to hold

A restaurant logo is one of the most versatile to design: it lives on a sign several meters wide and on a thumbnail a few dozen pixels across. Here is what each surface demands, and the delivered file that answers it.

Storefront and signage
Your sign maker will ask for a vector file: the SVG or the EPS scales to five meters without losing a pixel.
Menu and wine list
Plan for a monochrome version. A logo that does not survive black and white will not survive a one-color printed menu.
Takeaway packaging
On kraft paper, flat color disappears. What serves here is the single-color version, stamped at 3 centimeters.
Social media
The profile picture is a 150-pixel circle. The full logo with the name becomes unreadable there: only the symbol is used.
Delivery and booking platforms
A square thumbnail, often displayed under 100 pixels among dozens of competitors. This is the hardest legibility test of all.
Website and favicon
The ICO file delivered with your logo covers the browser tab, at 16 and 32 pixels.
Print: flyers, cards, chalkboards
The PDF and the EPS are the formats your printer expects, with no conversion on your side.

Restaurant logos actually produced by the pipeline

These logos come out of the BrandMotion Lab Restaurant sector. None was retouched by hand: they show what the pipeline proposes when you give it a name and a direction.
