How to create a Shopify logo in 2027
A store logo needs to work in the header, on a phone, as a favicon and on printed packaging. This practical guide helps you prepare your identity ahead of a 2027 launch.

Design for real situations
Prepare a horizontal wordmark, a compact layout and a symbol-only option. A logo that looks impressive at full size may be unreadable in a narrow mobile header.
Think about your products: coffee labels, apparel tags and cosmetic packaging all impose different constraints. Test the artwork on light and dark backgrounds and at actual size.

- Test readability at small sizes
- Check for confusing similarities to existing marks
Keep the right source files
Retain a genuine vector master such as SVG and an appropriately sized transparent PNG for image fields. An SVG extension alone does not guarantee vector paths: SVG files can embed raster images.
Save a simplified favicon or avatar variation. When your logo has fine detail, the miniature version may need less detail, not merely a smaller export.

Add the logo to your Shopify theme
In Shopify admin, open Online Store, edit your theme and navigate to Theme settings then Logo. Upload or select the image, adjust the displayed width and inspect desktop and mobile. Labels may vary as Shopify updates its editor.
Use descriptive alternative text. Add a favicon in the appropriate theme settings where supported. Uploading a theme logo is distinct from installing any logo-generation app.

Make the identity consistent
Match button colors and typography to the brand without sacrificing contrast or usability. Mock up real packaging before ordering it and preserve the unmodified master artwork.
